BOOSTER #2 for 60+

Vaccine safety must always be evaluated relative to disease risk and vaccine efficacy. Older adults have a higher Covid mortality risk than younger adults. The overall infection fatality rate of omicron could be as low as 0.0025 percent, or one in 40,000. However, the modeling from Washington University suggests that it’s closer to 0.07 percent, or roughly one in 1,430 — which is less than the seasonal flu. We know there is a small risk of myocarditis, but we do not yet know enough about other potential heart problems, nor about the long-term consequences of vaccine-induced myocarditis. A recent CDC study showed a lower risk of myocarditis after vaccination than after Covid infection, but that is not the relevant comparison. Since almost all vaccinated people will eventually get Covid despite their vaccination, the proper comparison is the risk of myocarditis after Covid infection versus the combined risk of myocarditis after vaccination and after their subsequent post-vaccination Covid infection. The boosters do decrease the severity of illness. The duration of benefits from booster number 2 is not yet settled. It may only last for 6 to 10 weeks according to Israeli data.

TAKE HOME

For people over 60, the benefit of a second booster probably outweighs the small risk of both known and potentially unknown adverse reactions.

MASKS in PHILADELPHIA

The graph tracks the results of a natural experiment that occurred nationwide during the pandemic. Eleven states never mandated masks, while the other 39 states enforced mandates. If you add up all the numbers on those two lines, you find that the mask mandates made zero difference. The cumulative rate of infection over the course of the pandemic was about 24 percent in the mandate states as well as in the non-mandate states. Their cumulative rates of Covid mortality were virtually identical, too (in fact, there were slightly more deaths per capita in the states with mask mandates).

Fewer than 10 percent of Swedes bothered to wear masks. In Germany, by contrast, more than 80 percent did so. From the start of the pandemic through this spring, the rate of overall excess mortality has been slightly higher in Germany (by about 8 percent). Just as in the United States, the mask mandates in Germany produced no benefits.

What Philadelphia is doing is a political stunt.

Instead of carefully analyzing the effects of masks, the CDC repeatedly tried to justify them by misrepresenting short-term trends and selling obviously flawed research. Real and convincing data has been widely available and well known for almost two years. The CDC covered up the data. The CDC hid the facts. They turned their backs on "the science" to promote a political agenda and a new and dangerous medical tyranny.

VACCINE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5

The countries vaccinating children under 5 are China, Cuba, Bahrain, Chile, Argentina, and Venezuela.

No European country vaccinates children under 5. Sweden, Norway and Denmark begin offering Covid vaccination over age 18.

In a large analysis of multiple Covid reports, the Omicron cohort contracted COVID-19 from December 26, 2021-January 25, 2022.

The investigators accessed the health data of 90 million American COVID-19 patients from 66 healthcare organizations. Patients included in the study represented 28% of the total US population. The investigators examined monthly COVID-19 incidence

The final study population was 751,603 children under 5 years of age with Omicron.

The cohort of children who contracted Omicron was younger and had fewer comorbidities than either of the Delta cohorts; the incidence rate of Omicron infection was higher in children 0-2 years than children 3-4 years of age. The risk of severe clinical outcomes in the Omicron cohort were significantly lower than the matched Delta cohorts. In children infected with Omicron under 5, there were 10 deaths in children with severe pre-existing medical conditions.

TAKE HOME

Omicron Covid 19 is much less risky for children than the seasonal flu. There is a risk of myocarditis in young people from being vaccinated. For healthy children, without medical conditions, the risk of dying from Covid is effectively zero. Immunocompromised children and children with pre-existing risk factors should be vaccinated against Covid-19.
