Amazon Pharmacy has announced it will offer Novo Nordisk's Wegovy weight loss pill, providing a new option for those seeking obesity treatment. The digital pharmacy will sell the pill to customers with commercial insurance for as little as $25 for a one-month supply. Those without insurance can purchase it for $149 per month. The pill, an oral version of the injectable drug, is part of Novo Nordisk's strategy to reach more patients by expanding beyond traditional channels.
The Wegovy pill will be available for home delivery across all 50 states and through Amazon's prescription vending kiosks in select One Medical clinics in the coming weeks. This move highlights Amazon's commitment to expanding its healthcare services since launching Amazon Pharmacy in 2020 after acquiring PillPack in 2018 and One Medical in 2022.
The availability of Wegovy on Amazon underscores the company's efforts to provide price transparency and fast delivery. The pill is also available at over 70,000 U.S. pharmacies, including CVS and Costco, and through telehealth providers like Ro and LifeMD. Health experts believe oral options like Wegovy could make obesity treatments more accessible, especially for those who prefer pills over injections.
