Philadelphia is gearing up for a massive celebration as the city prepares to host a parade for the Eagles' Super Bowl victory. City officials announced that they expect one million people to attend the event on Friday (February 14). The parade will kick off at 11 a.m. from Broad and Pattison avenues near Lincoln Financial Field and proceed up Broad Street to City Hall before heading down Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The Eagles secured their second Vince Lombardi Trophy with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, held in New Orleans. Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed pride in the team's resilience, noting their early season struggles and eventual triumph. "Our Philadelphia Eagles, they were also gritty. They lifted up our spirits at a time when we really needed lifting," Parker said during a news conference.
The parade will feature open-air buses carrying Eagles players, coaches, and staff, along with the team's mascot, Swoop. The celebration will culminate with a 75-minute ceremony on the "Rocky" steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, starting at 2 p.m. The event will include speeches and a replay of the Eagles' Super Bowl victory on large screens along the parade route.
Philadelphia officials have planned extensive safety measures, including road closures and special public transportation schedules. Spectators are encouraged to use SEPTA, which will offer free subway travel and run on a special event schedule. Visit Philadelphia has also set up a hotline for fans to leave messages of congratulations for the team.
