Five Minutes Of Intensive Daily Exercise May Lower Blood Pressure

(Sydney, Australia) -- A new study out of Australia shows that adding just five minutes of intense exercise to your daily routine may lower your blood pressure. The study, published in the medical journal "Circulation," looked at 15-thousand people and found a slight drop in blood pressure after vigorous five-minutes workouts that included such activities as running or cycling. The co-author of the study, done at the University of Sydney, said the blood pressure lowering effect was even greater among participants who replaced 30-minutes of sleep with strenuous exercise. Almost half of America's adults have high blood pressure, defined as greater than 130 over 80.
