Last night at about 2AM, my family and I woke up to bangs on the door from the Pennsylvania State Police after an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg. The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire was on the scene and while they worked to put out the fire, we were evacuated from the Residence safely by Pennsylvania State Police and assisted by Capitol Police. Thank God no one was injured and the fire was extinguished. Every day, we stand with the law enforcement and first responders who run towards danger to protect our communities. Last night, they did so for our family – and Lori and I are eternally grateful to them for keeping us safe.

Early Sunday morning (April 13), a fire broke out at the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence located on Front Street in Harrisburg. Crews from the Harrisburg Fire Department responded promptly, arriving just after 2 a.m. to find smoke emanating from the building. According to Harrisburg Fire Chief Brian Enterline, the fire was contained to the first floor, but smoke damage affected other parts of the mansion.
The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes, though firefighters remained on the scene until 7 a.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the residents or the firefighters. Several individuals, including members of Governor Josh Shapiro's family, were inside the residence during the incident but managed to escape safely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, as the mansion is a state-owned property. Chief Enterline did not confirm whether Governor Shapiro was present at the time of the fire.
