Public Awareness Of Natural Suicide Prevention Hotline Number Up, But Still Low
(Washington, DC) -- Public awareness of the 988 suicide prevention hotline is up but still low. That's according to an Annenberg Public Policy Center/SSRS poll. It found that only 15-percent of respondents could correctly name the number for the hotline. That's up by four points since August 2023. The director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, said in a statement, "When 988 is as readily recalled as 911, the nation will have cause to celebrate."
