Woman Accused Of Stealing Federal Funds, Money From Banks

Ester Mbaya, the former president of a healthcare business in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to charges of healthcare and bank fraud. The 43-year-old Harrisburg resident is accused of defrauding Medicaid of over $1 million since 2017 while serving as the head of Cool Waters, LLC.

In addition to the healthcare fraud, Mbaya is also accused of falsifying financial documents to secure a $750,000 line of credit and $125,000 in personal loans from various banks. According to the FBI, these fraudulent activities have been ongoing for several years.

Mbaya now faces a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison. The case serves as a stark reminder of the severe penalties associated with defrauding government programs and financial institutions.
