They have also requested transcripts of interviews with the immediate family of the gunman, Thomas Crooks, and members of the Clairton Sportsmen's Club.
The assassination attempt occurred during a rally on July 13, where Trump was shot and injured. The FBI is treating the incident as an assassination attempt and potential domestic terrorism. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, acted alone according to the investigation so far, and there are no current public safety concerns. The FBI is still working to determine the motive for the shooting and is examining the shooter's telephone for further evidence. The bipartisan Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, led by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly and ranking member Rep. Jason Crow, has set a deadline of September 24 for the requested documents and interviews.
