Water Main Break In Dauphin County Residents To Restrict Water Usage

Residents in parts of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, are being urged to restrict their water usage following a water main break on Derry Street in Swatara Township. The break was reported on Tuesday morning, August 13, around 7 a.m. according to Swatara Township EMA.

Veolia Water, the company responsible for the water supply in the area, has asked customers to limit their water use as much as possible. The recent heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debbie have stirred up sediment, clogging the Sixth Street Water Treatment Plant. The water restriction is intended to preserve stored supplies of water until the issue can be resolved.

Affected customers in Linglestown, Paxtonia, Colonial Park, Penbrook Borough, and northern Swatara Township are being asked to halt all non-essential use of water. This includes watering lawns, filling pools, washing cars, and other non-essential tasks. There is currently no estimated time for the plant to be fixed and the water restrictions will remain in place until then.

This is a developing story and residents are advised to stay updated on the situation.
