Lebanon Cemetery in York is Now Shut Down

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Lebanon Cemetery in York is now shut down after vandals struck for the second time in a week.

About 300 veterans are laid to rest there, cemetery managers said.

Now, with just a few days left before Memorial Day, the hope is to get it cleaned up in time so loved ones can pay their respects.

After crews spent all day Saturday helping with upkeep, the managers of the cemetery announced its closure on Wednesday, saying it needed "to secure resources to assess the safety of the property."

Police said that if they find anyone tampering with the property, especially after hours, they would face criminal trespassing charges.
