Memorial Day Weekend Out and About In Central PA!

VA5K Annual Memorial Run

Lebanon VA Medical Center

The VA5K Annual Memorial Run is in it's 37th year and is held at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Proceeds from the run benefit a Veterans Event. The run is always held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and race time is 9 am. The virtual run can be completed anytime between now and May 25, 2024.

ADAMSTOWN COMMUNITY DAYS

Community Days is held each Memorial Day weekend Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday in our community park located at 300 West Main St. Adamstown.

Memorial Day Parade in Mountville Borough

10:00 a.m. Saturday ~ Parade steps off at College Avenue and Clay Street – led by the VFW Honor Guard, Veterans, and Auxiliary members.

Come out and join in the celebration to commemorate Memorial Day

and to honor those who have served our Country.

Fort Indiantown Gap

The Department of Veterans Affairs Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will host its 42nd annual Memorial Day program, a solemn Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony, accompanied by speeches, an Armed Forces Medley, a moment of silence, a rifle volley, and the playing of Taps.

The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. 

Carlisle Memorial Day Parade and Service

Monday, May 27, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

Joint Council of Carlisle will host a Memorial Day Parade beginning at 9am at N Hanover and N St. It will proceed south on Hanover St, past the Square and turn right on W Pomfret St. The parade will continue west then turn right onto S Pitt St. A memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial Courtyard in the Carlisle Square following the parade.

Gettysburg Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

The Gettysburg Joint Veterans Memorial Day Commission has announced the 157th Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, will take place Monday, May 27, 2024. In remembrance and honor of the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country, the Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Gettysburg is one of the oldest continuing ceremonies in our nation.

Camp Hill Memorial Day Parade

American Legion Post 43 will hold a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and the route is as follows: begin at 19th and Market Street, turn west to 24th Street, turn north to Walnut Street, then turn east and end at the Camp Hill Fire Station. A ceremony will follow in the cemetery at 11:30 a.m. directly behind the station. 

Palmyra

The Palmyra community will honor fallen veterans with a parade at 10 a.m. on May 27. Attendees are invited to bring flags and their patriotic spirit to the event. The parade will start at the Palmyra Area Middle School before heading east on West Cherry Street, turning at South Franklin Street, marching back up 422 and returning to the middle school. 

Duncannon Memorial Day Dinner for Veterans

The County's Chamber of Commerce will offer free dinner for veterans on Memorial Day. Those interested in attending the dinner can call 717-834-4777 or 717-250-9797 to place their order. Meals will have roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. The dinners can be picked up from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Babs Curran Senior Center, located at 403 N. Market St. in Duncannon.

96th Annual Shillington Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Monday, May 27, 2024 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade is scheduled to begin at Shillington Park (see map below) and will culminate at the Shillington Town Hall.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

Come together as a community to honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country. Join us for the annual Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Service at Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park and Playground. Following the parade, a Memorial Ceremony and Tribute will take place around the flagpole area.

To pay respects to our nation's fallen heroes, we invite all Wyomissing residents to proudly display the American flag outside their homes on this day and throughout the Memorial Day Weekend.

Parade participants are to gather at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary School parking lot by 9:15 AM. The parade will commence at 10:00 AM, following the designated route on the provided map. The Memorial Day Committee encourages the youth of the Borough to join the parade by decorating their bikes, scooters, and wagons.

After the ceremony, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girls Scouts will be on site with plenty of concessions including a Chicken BBQ and Bake Sale, and there will be plenty of family fun and activities.

Oley Township

American Legion Post 878 will present its annual Memorial Day parade, starting at 6 p.m. and proceeding west on Main Street to Friedens Cemetery for a ceremony. The featured speaker will be state Rep. Barry Jozwiak. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be held in the Oley Valley High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

Bold Stripes, Bright Stars Memorial Day Parade Set For Tomorrow Afternoon In Lancaster

(Lancaster, PA) -- One of Pennsylvania foremost Memorial Day parades will kick off tomorrow afternoon in Lancaster. City officials say this year's parade theme "Bold Stripes, Bright Stars, Brave Hearts," remembers and honors generations of brave men and women who gave their all to secure and safeguard the American freedoms we all enjoy.
