Governor's Office Defends Frequent Use of State Plane

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Shapiro is taking flak for what could be described as "above-average" use of the state airplane. Spotlight PA says the plane, which is based at Capital City Airport in Cumberland County, has been used dramatically more by Shapiro than former Governors Tom Wolf or Tom Corbett. Spotlight's analysis claims the state-owned aircraft made 113 trips during Shapiro's first year in office. Shapiro's spokesperson Manuel Bonder defends the flights, saying in a statement that the plane connects people with government officials. Its maintenance runs about 487-thousand-dollars a year.
