(Harrisburg, PA) -- A recently-released study raises questions about the impact medical debt relief gives people who get assistance under the programs. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that health systems in Pittsburgh don't to want to participate. They apparently don't want to sell bad debt to third parties or report delinquent medical bills to credit agencies, which is part of the process. Lawmakers in the House passed a statewide medical debt relief bill last year. Governor Josh Shapiro wants to include four-million in funding for such debt relief in the 2024-25 budget.
