Alcohol More Common With Older Adults, Less With Younger

(Washington, DC) -- Alcohol is becoming less common for young adults to partake in and more likely for older adults to drink. That's according to a new Gallup survey. Only 62-percent of Americans aged 18 to 34 said they drink, compared to 72-percent 20 years ago. Meanwhile, adults 55 and over are drinking more: 59-percent say they drink now, compared to just less than half 20 years ago. But overall, about the same number of American adults say they "have occasion" to drink now as they did two decades ago.
