ICY CONDITIONS! CBS 21 Weather Watch in Central PA

WEATHER WATCH DAY TODAY:

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa (WHP) — A messy winter storm is moving into the region. A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will move in during the pre-dawn hours this morning. The wintry mix will continue through much of the morning with a changeover to plain rain expected early this afternoon. Areas south of 30 could see changeover to rain late this morning. A slushy 1 to 2 inches is expected north of the Turnpike with a coating to 1 inch expected south. Snow/sleet amounts will be greater in Mifflin and Juniata as temperatures remain colder there for a longer period of time.

Travel on Thursday morning will be hazardous with road conditions improving late in the day towards evening as the precipitation tapers off to showers and drizzle. Because of the winter storm threat, the CBS 21 First Warning Weather team has declared today a Weather *Watch* Day.

Ice is the biggest threat early in the day. Then some flooding is possible late in the day as heavy rain moves into the region.

IMPROVEMENT FRIDAY:

We'll see some lingering rain/snow showers early Friday before we finally clear things out. Highs will be around 40.

COLD REMAINS:

The weekend will be dry with some sunshine but the cold temperatures are sticking around. Highs will only be in the 30s Saturday and Sunday. There will be another storm threat next week and with cold air in place, more wintry precipitation is likely.

CBS 21 FIRST WARNING WEATHER FORECAST:

  • Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a few rain/snow showers: Low 34
  • Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy with rain/snow showers, especially early: High 40
  • Tomorrow Night: Partly cloudy and cold: Low 26
