>Vaccinations Continue to Rise in State

(Harrisburg, PA) -- State health officials say Pennsylvania continues to make strides in getting residents vaccinated for COVID-19. According to the CDC, as of Monday, January 17, 75% of adult Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated. This percentage reflects all 67 counties in Pennsylvania.

>>Arrest for Murder Made in Bill's CafĂŠ Shooting From Sunday

(Harrisburg, PA)  -- Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a shooting death that happened at Bill's Cafe in Allison Hill Sunday night. Officials arrested Shawn Davenport Junior Tuesday night on charges of first-degree murder, recklessly endangering another person, and various firearm violations. The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with any additional information on this incident is asked to call Harrisburg Police.

>>Community Rallies Around Family, Business Owner Who Shot Armed Robber

(York, PA) -- The York Community has donated over $12,000 to the family of a man who shot and killed an armed robber as he tried to hold up his restaurant. The owner of Asian Best, however, decided to close the 13-year-business just a couple of days after the incident and now his family is pulling the community around the owner to help support him. Over $12,000 has been raised, so far. Police say the armed robber, later identified as Ricky Cox Junior, died at the scene. The investigation into the incident is still open.

>>17-year-old Arrested for Bow Shooting Cat in Adams County

(Gettysburg, PA) -- A 17-year-old has been charged in the bow shooting that led to the death of an Adams County cat. Police made the announcement Tuesday but say they can't release more details about the youth since he's a juvenile. Chuck, an 11-year-old orange tabby cat, belonged to a Carroll Valley family. He was shot with an arrow on December 23rd and made it home but died shortly after. There were rewards offered for information on the shooting. Police said the person who would have received the money asked that it go to the Adams County SPCA instead.

>>Bill Would Create Educational Opportunity Accounts for Military Families

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A new bill introduced in the state senate this past week would allow military parents to spend educational opportunity account money on tuition for nonpublic schools. Senate Bill 999, sponsored by Senators Doug Mastriano and Ryan Aument would create similar educational opportunity accounts to expand school choice for military families. The accounts would be funded by the state per-pupil education subsidy. The bill would also allow military parents to spend the money on higher education, distance learning and other expenses for nonpublic schools. 

>>Police Say Lancaster Man Sexually Assaulted An 11-Year-Old Girl

(Lancaster, PA) -- A Lancaster city man has been charged with a felony offense after allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old girl. City police say Michael Antonio Vargas, 33, fondled the girl at a residence in the on West Liberty Street late last summer, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The girl spoke with police in early December, telling them Vargas had touched her inappropriately. Vargas was charged with unlawful contact with a minor - a felony offense - as well two misdemeanors. 

>> Penn Township Beautician Charged With Defrauding Brides

(Penn Township, PA) -- A 37-year-old woman is facing fraud charges and several felony offenses for allegedly bilking about 20 brides out of hair and makeup services right before their weddings. Holly Boyer, a Penn Township beautician, is accused of receiving thousands of dollars in services that were not given, claiming she had to file for bankruptcy right before she was to provide them. Boyer was arrested last Monday and charged with 36 offenses - three of them felonies. She allegedly defrauded 18 women in six states out of nearly $16,000. She is free on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

>>Police Investigating Reading Shooting As a Homicide

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened last Wednesday in the 200 block of Maple Street as a homicide. Officers responded to the area of South 9th Street and Chestnut as a result of EMS being flagged down for a man who had been shot. The victim, who was later identified as Jarel Lunsford from Reading, was transported to Reading Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 36. According to investigators, Lunsford had met with an unknown person in the in the 200 block of Maple Street and during the encounter, shots were fired by both Lunsford and the person. Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

>>Man Arrested for Harassment, Theft and Breaking into Woman's Home

(Lititz, PA) -- A Quarryville man has been arrested for harassing a woman, forcing his way into her Lititz home, and taking an electric bike from there to evade police. Police said in a news release that Brandon Charles Latcheran attempted to break into the residence on East Lincoln Avenue by kicking a door and punching a glass pane around Jan. 7th. He previously inundated the woman who lived there with unwanted text messages as well. Latcheran faces charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and harassment in the case. 

>>Gas Prices Levelling Off

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Pennsylvania is up only one-cent a gallon compared to a week ago. AAA says the price at the pump statewide as of Tuesday is $3.52. The national average for regular gas is $3.31 a gallon. A year ago, gas was $2.58 per gallon in the state. 

>>Man Facing Charges for Throwing Raw Chicken Through and Breaking Neighbor's Window

(Loyalsock Township, PA) -- A 20-year-old Williamsport man is facing charges after being accused of throwing raw chicken through his neighbor's window. The victim said she was alerted by a neighbor that another neighbor had thrown something at her house and broken a window. She said she returned home to discover that a rear window in her home had been broken by a piece of raw chicken. Someone who witnessed the act identified the suspect to police. His name hasn't been released to the public but he's facing a non-traffic citation for Criminal Mischief in district court. The window was repaired for just under $44.

>>Third N.J. Person Charged In Stolen Mail, 'Check Washing' Scheme In Bethlehem 

(Bethlehem, PA) -- A third New Jersey resident has been charged in a stolen mail, "check washing" scheme that resulted in thousands of dollars being stolen in Bethlehem Township. Police say Richard B. Colin will face charges of forgery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. The counts were filed in the district court in the township. The mail-stealing ring involving two other New Jersey residents who also reportedly got checks from mailboxes whose outgoing flags were raised. The checks were then treated with chemicals to erase the amounts, with new figures inserted before the checks were deposited into personal accounts at a TD Bank.

>>City Requires Vax Pass For Indoor Dining

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Be sure to grab your vaccination card the next time you decide to go out to eat in Philadelphia. Anyone over the age of 12-years-old must be fully vaccinated in order to have a bite indoors at their favorite restaurant. This also goes for casinos, movie theaters, bowling alleys and indoor sporting venues. Unvaccinated people may still eat outdoors at locations with outside dining spaces.

>>Mo Co Hepatitis-A Outbreak

(West Norriton, PA) -- Health officials are investigating a possible third death related to a Hepatitis-A outbreak. The outbreak first came to light back on January 5th and two-deaths were linked to the outbreak at that point. It's all stemming from a West Norriton restaurant and health personnel have confirmed ten-cases to this point. Now, another person died earlier this week and their death could potentially be linked to the outbreak. Symptoms of Hepatitis-A include nausea, fatigue and stomach pain. The Montgomery County Health Department has shutdown Gino's Ristorante-and-Pizzaria until further notice.
