(Lebanon, PA) -- A state Representative who served in Afghanistan calls the swift collapse of the Afghan government a sucker punch to the gut after the American lives lost to the battle over the decades. Republican State Representative Frank Ryan is a retired Marine colonel. He says he agreed with the decision to withdraw, but he disagrees with how it was carried out. Ryan says the nation needs to plan to avoid a similar disaster in the future.

>>Governor Wolf Says 80% Of Adults In Pennsylvania Have Received First Dose

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf says 80-percent of all adults in Pennsylvania have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. A little more than 64-percent of all adults are fully vaccinated. Pennsylvania ranks 9th in the nation for first doses administered and 5th in the nation for total doses administered.

>>Fire Damages Popular York County Restaurant

Stewartstown, PA) -- The owners of the popular Stewartstown Smokehouse in York County say they hope to rebuild after a fire heavily damaged the restaurant Sunday night. Investigators believe the cause is traced to an electrical problem in the kitchen. The local landmark is noted for its barbecue. For now, the smokehouse's owners say they'll work out of a food truck until they can reopen.

>>Sunoco Pays Fines For Pipeline Programs Across Cumberland, Lebanon Counties

(Harrisburg, PA) -- State environmental officials say Sunoco is paying 85-thousand dollars in fines because of problems with one of its pipelines. The pipeline spilled drilling fluid across four counties, including Cumberland and Lebanon. In Cumberland County, the pipeline spilled into Letort Spring Run, while in Lebanon County, Snitz Creek was affected.

>>Pep Rally Greets Returning Students At Milton Hershey School

(Hershey, PA) -- Students at Milton Hershey School are the first in the area to return to school this fall, and yesterday, staff and faculty greeted them with a pep rally to start their year. The school is continuing its policy of in-person classes this year as it did through the pandemic last year. Masks are worn inside the school, and social distancing is enforced. Some of the two-thousand students live at Milton Hershey School throughout the year.

>>WellSpan To Require All Employees Be Vaccinated

(York, PA) -- WellSpan Health says unvaccinated employees who work around patients must be vaccinated by September 12th or undergo regular testing. WellSpan officials make the announcement as the number of COVID-19 patients in their hospital have increased from 20 to 95 in under a month. WellSpan officials say they're also revising their visitation policies to one visitor per patient in most situations.  

>>Giant Company Short-Changes Employees During Pandemic

(Carlisle, PA) -- Federal labor officials say the Giant Company shortchanged more than 33-hundred employees more than 165-thousand dollars in overtime pay during the pandemic. The company says the oversight was not intentional, and it has voluntarily resolved the issue. The Labor Department says Giant ignored lump sum bonus payments it gave its workers when it calculated their overtime rates during the pandemic. The employees are employed in more than 190 stores in four states, including Pennsylvania.  

>>Harrisburg Schools Name New Principal For John Harris Campus

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg School District officials have named the new principal for Harrisburg High School's John Harris Campus. She's Michelle Felton, and district officials say she'll begin immediately. Felton has worked in public education for 22 years, 18 of which have been in the Harrisburg School District. Most recently, she has been assistant and associate principal at John Harris.   

>>Harrisburg University Of Science And Technology Freezes Tuition Again

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is freezing its tuition again for the ninth consecutive year. The tuition freeze applies to both undergraduate and graduate students. University officials say by freezing tuition rates, they're able to increase access to post-secondary science, technology, engineering and math fields to more students.  

>>New Trail In The Works For Rocky Ridge Park In York County

(York, PA) -- York County officials say a new trail is planned for Rocky Ridge Park. The new access trail will run 37-hundred feet and will connect the front and back parking areas of Rocky Ridge. The trail will wind through the woods south of Deininger Road. The 445-thousand-dollar project will give visitors another route to follow through the park.
