>>Pence Addresses Large Crowd At Capital City Airport

(Fairview Twp., PA) -- Organizers say a large crowd of people were in attendance Monday for VP Mike Pence’s stop at the Capital City Airport. Some said they waited three hours to get in to hear the stump speech, which many see as the closing argument for Donald Trump to be reelected. Pence spoke for about 50 minutes, adding the election is really a choice if America remains America.

>>PA Department Of Health Adds 18-Hundred New COVID-19 Cases

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Health are adding 1,857 new COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth over the past two days. That announcement, which includes the cases since Saturday’s announcement push the statewide total to 180,943 since the start of the pandemic. There were nine deaths related to COVID-19 complications announced, bringing the death toll to 8,466.

>>Construction Begins On Kiwanis Lake In York

(York, PA) -- Work is underway on Kiwanis Lake in York. A large part of the lake will be blocked off to pedestrians as construction goes on along Newberry Street. The work intends to restore the lake by reducing sediment, repairing the flood gate, and adding new fountains and lighting.

>>Work Begins On New York County Warehouse

(East Manchester Twp., PA) -- Work is underway on a new warehouse in East Manchester Township. The 175,000-square-foot facility is being built on the 500-block of Canal Road in Orchard Business Park. It’s expected to be completed by the February.

>>Missing Harrisburg Woman Found Safe

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg police say a woman reported missing has been found safe. Angela Harris was reportedly last seen Thursday. It’s unclear when the 25-year-old was found.

>>Adams County Police Chase Ends With One Person Dead

(Emmitsburg, MD) -- Investigators say a police chase that started in Adams County ended south of the Mason-Dixon with one person dead. State police were following an attempted homicide suspect on Route 15 Monday, eventually ending with a crash near Route 144 in Emmitsburg. One man was taken into custody, while the other ran. Police eventually caught up with the second man, who exchanged gunfire. That suspect was struck and taken to the hospital, where he died.

>>Lancaster County, Federal Law Enforcement Outline Election Security Plan

(East Hempfield Township, PA) -- Leaders in Lancaster County are working with federal law enforcement to ensure the security of the November 3rd general election. County leaders says the main issues being dealt with are possible voter fraud, cyber crimes, and potential unrest after votes are counted. Lancaster County expects to receive 120-thousand mail-in ballots this year.

>>Wilson School Board Member Advocating For Electric Buses  

(Spring Township, PA) -- A Wilson School Board member is advocating for electric school buses. The board voted eight to one yesterday to approve the purchase of seven propane-fuel school buses. Dissenting member Ed Case is asking the board to delay action until fair consideration can be given to electric vehicles. Case says three-billion dollars in grant money is available for electric buses. Superintendent Dr. Richard Faidley brought up concerns about battery replacement costs and climate issues with electric buses. Others expressed concerns about the cost of ownership. A contract was approved for the propane-fueled buses.

>>Governor Mifflin School Board Takes Action On Financial Items

(Shillington, PA) -- The Governor Mifflin School Board is taking action on financial items. The board approved the use of separate firms yesterday for the 2020 ACA Employer Reporting and the district's year-end audits. The board also approved the Renewal Agreement for special education services and the E-Rate Consulting Services Agreement to receive discounted rates on telecommunications and internet services with Berks County Intermediate Unit.  

>>Nonprofit That Helps Mothers Gets New Van

(Reading, PA) -- A Reading nonprofit that helps mothers in need is getting a new van. Heritage Auto Sales donated the van to Hannah's Hope Ministries yesterday. Ministry officials say moms can rent the van for a low cost to meet travel needs. Hannah's Hope provides services and care to homeless women and their children.

>>Supreme Court Allows Mail-In Ballots Extension

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The U.S. Supreme court is approving the state's plan to count mail-in ballots up to three days after Election Day. A suit was filed by Republicans after a lower court ruled in favor of the plan. The Supreme Court voted four to four on the initiative, which keeps the initial ruling from the lower court. So, ballots postmarked no later than 8 p.m. November 3rd and received up to three days after Election Day will be counted.

>>Governor Urges COVID-19 Restriction Compliance Amid Fall Surge

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is urging citizens to follow COVID-19 guidelines amid fall resurgence. Wolf says the fall resurgence is here, and we've seen the effects of not wearing masks or following social distance. This comes as the state saw an increase of nearly nine-thousand new cases over the last seven days, and data shows the statewide percent positivity rate is a little over four-percent, which is the highest since early August. Officials say about two-thousand new cases over the last two weeks have been children between the ages of 13 and 18, who can easily spread it to older, more vulnerable groups.
