>>Homicide Charges Filed In 2017 Murder In Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg police are charging a man with first-degree murder connected to a deadly shooting in 2017. Christian Zimmerman was charged last week for the death of Christopher Burkett. Burkett was allegedly shot while sitting in a vehicle on the 1,300-block of Market Street.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Non-commercial drivers who have an expired license now have to get it renewed. PennDOT officials extended the expiration dates for commercial driver licenses and permits but didn’t give the extension for regular drivers. There had been extensions offered since March 16 through the end of August.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- PennDOT officials say their driver license and photo centers will be closed this Saturday through Labor Day. Most transactions can still be completed at their website during that time. They add that there is no additional fee to use their online services.

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading School District is issuing a warning about a scam. Officials say scammers are calling families and telling them that they're with the district, and they're picking up students' Chromebooks. The scammers tell the families that they can get a new laptop at the school. District officials say district employees will never visit homes to retrieve Chromebooks. They ask families to call the police if scammers show up and try to take the computer.

>>Proposed Settlement For Natural Gas Explosion Has UGI Paying Out Millions 

(Manor Twp., PA) -- A proposed settlement for a natural gas explosion in Manor Township has UGI paying $1.1 million in civil penalties. The settlement proposal is for the explosion in July 2017 that killed UGI technician Richard Bouder and hurt two other employees. The initial proposal had UGI’s penalties at over two million dollars. There’s no word on a timetable as to when it could be approved or countered.

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading Police Department are rolling out body cameras for patrol officers. The chief says a lot of departments are using body cameras to help with investigations by showing how situations unfolded in real time. He says the cameras will also help keep both officers and community members accountable.

>>Order To Ban Foreclosures, Evictions Expires In PA

(Reading, PA) -- Renters and landlords are wondering what is next as a state order preventing evictions has come to an end, but a similar order from the CDC and the White House is in the works. Dozens took part in a rally in Reading Tuesday to urge state lawmakers to pass legislation to delay foreclosures or evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor had an order banning those actions, but he says he no longer has the authority to expand it.

>>Man Hospitalized After Reading Shooting

(Reading, PA) -- Reading police say a shooting sent a man to the hospital over the weekend. It happened early Sunday morning in the area of North 12th and Oley streets, with a man struck by a bullet as he was trying to cross the street between two parked cars. The man is in stable condition and it’s unclear if he was targeted.

>>Universal Testing At Long-Term Care Facilities Complete

The Pennsylvania Health Department is reporting that universal testing at all long-term care facilities in the state is complete. Heath Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says it is because of this initiative that they have been able to recognize COVID-19 cases and outbreaks early. The state tested all 13-hundred-63 assisted living residences, personal care homes and private intermediate care facilities. Officials found that of the 76-hundred-91 deaths related to the virus in the state, nearly 52-hundred have been from residents of long-term care facilities.

>>Governor Renews Disaster Declaration

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is renewing the state's COVID-19 disaster declaration for another 90 days. Wolf says they will continue to combat the health and economic effects of the virus and the renewal will provide them the resources and support needed to do so. The declaration allows the state to continue using the National Guard for support and testing at long-term care facilities and let the state rapidly scale response efforts and use new intervention tactics like a vaccine.

>>Carlisle Cops Looking For Man Accused In Assault

(Carlisle, PA) -- Police in Carlisle are looking for the man they believe is behind an assault yesterday morning. Glenn Whiting is being considered by police as armed and dangerous following the reported assault on West Willow Street, where a victim was pistol-whipped and hurt with a knife. Investigators say several gunshots were fired during the altercation. The victim is expected to survive. Anyone with information on the 27-year-old Whiting’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.

>>Harrisburg Residents Can Report Illegal Fireworks Through The City’s Website

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg residents who are fed up with illegal fireworks in their neighborhoods can report them through the city’s website. City officials are asking residents to file the report which will help them track where the fireworks are being shot from. While legal to own and use the fireworks, they cannot be set off within 150-feet of an occupied structure. It’s reported that Lower Paxton Township, Swatara Township, and West Shore Regional police have already agreed to use the reporting system.

>>No Sentence Relief For Repeat Sex Offender From Lancaster County

(Lancaster, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Superior Court is denying a new sentence for a repeat sex offender from Lancaster County. The court upheld a Lancaster County Judge’s order last year that sentenced Robert Flerx to between two and five years in prison after numerous probation and parole violations following convictions in 2016 and 2018. Flerx had argued that his sentence was excessive, and the judge didn’t consider his character, history, nor rehabilitative needs.

>>York Police Continue To Investigate Sunday Morning Shooting

(York, PA) -- Police in York are still trying to determine what let to a Sunday morning shooting that injured a woman. The 41-year-old was shot on the 600-block of Manor Street and taken to York Hospital in stable condition. York police are asking for help from anyone who may have information on the incident.

>>Woman Sought Who Damaged Lower Swatara Township Convenience Store Items Following Mask Request

(Lower Swatara Twp., PA) -- Police in Lower Swatara Township are trying to identify the woman accused of damaged items at a convenience store after being asked to put on a mask. The woman reportedly entered Souders Mini Mart on Fulling Mill Road August 8th and was asked by a clerk to put on a mask. That’s when she damaged about $24 worth of items before leaving. Anyone who may recognize surveillance photos of the woman is asked to contact Lower Swatara Township police.
