A settlement is in the works in a federal lawsuit filed by the family of a man shot by a Hummelstown police officer. Details of the agreement between former officer Lisa Mearkle and David Kassick's family weren't released but Hummeltown's lawyer said yesterday, "I can confirm that we do have a settlement. But the finalization of the paperwork and the details are still pending." Kassick's family claims Mearkle shot and killed Kassick in 2015 without justification and says Hummelstown officials didn't properly train and supervise her.
