Senator Pat Toomey is responding to President Trump's Tuesday press conference. In a statement yesterday, the Republican senator said, "There is no moral equivalency between neo-Nazis, bigots, and white supremacists, and those who oppose them. Our country has no room for corrupt ideology or violent acts." Toomey's communications director also pointed out yesterday that when Toomey disagrees with the president, he publicly says so, as he did with this statement.
Meanwhile, Senator Bob Casey is expressing his disappointment in President Donald Trump's reaction to the violence in Charlottesville. Casey said yesterday that Trump's words on Tuesday were disturbing explaining, "I think it compromises his ability to lead domestically, but also internationally. The world is looking at this president and wondering how America can stand for the values we've stood for for generations."
