ACLU weighs in on 'Taps case'

The American Civil Liberties Union is getting involved with the "Taps" controversy in Glen Rock.  Council began enforcing a nuisance ordinance last month when Joshua Corney refused to stop playing a recording of the song over an outdoor loudspeaker every night.  Council got complaints about the noise and the frequency and asked Corney to limit the song to Sundays and recognized flag holidays.  In a letter yesterday, the ACLU told borough council that the song is a musical ritual that is protected by the First Amendment.
