Harrisburg city council members are pondering a new trash ordinance. Dumpers often illegally leave tires, couches, mattresses and other large items throughout the city so the measure would fine violators up to a thousand dollars. The current ordinance levies fines as low as 50 dollars. Council members will hold a series of public meetings this summer to get community feedback.
