HH Gregg closing most of its PA stores

Struggling appliance and electronics retailer HHGregg is planning to close 88 of its weakest stores as part of an effort to stay afloat.

Locally the stores in Harrisburg, York, Mechanicsburg and Lancaster will be closing.

Other Pennsylvania stores set to close include Wilkes-Barre, Dickson City, Wyomissing, Downington, Pittsburgh, King of Prussia, Erie, North Wales, Philadelphia, Langhorne and Whitehall.

The distribution center in Philadelphia will also be closed.

"Online competition for purchasing power is huge and so that's changing the way that a lot of retailers are doing things. I think they'll still be retailers will probably be smaller footprints rather than the big boxes," David Black, the President & CEO of the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce tells CBS-21.
