The Reading community is mourning a hometown hero. Albert Boscov, the chairman of Boscov's Department Stores, died Friday after battling cancer. He not only successfully ran Boscov's for many years after his father's death, but he also started the nonprofit Our City Reading, which helped first-time home-buyers. One former Reading mayor said Boscov made more of an impact on the city than anyone else.
