An 8-vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers has closed a portion of Interstate 83 Northbound just before the 2nd Street exit. The northbound lanes are closed and southbound is open but going very slow. PennDOT officials hope to have the northbound lanes open by noon. According to officials, crews are working to rescue two people trapped in separate cars and the tractor trailer is leaking fuel.
One of the trailers was carrying concrete dust.
One of the tractor trailers rolled over and the side of the body of a truck is hanging off the parapet of the South Bridge. PennDOT reports that six cars were involved and there are minor injuries.
