Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 300,000 diesel trucks due to a defective fuel pump that could lead to a loss of power and increase the risk of a crash. The recall affects 295,449 vehicles, including Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 models from 2020 to 2022, as well as F-650 and F-750 models from 2021 to 2022.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail. Affected vehicles may experience extended crank while starting, a Check Engine Light, noise, and reduced engine power.
Ford has not received any reports of injuries, accidents, or fires related to this issue. The company will update the powertrain control module software free of charge. Notification letters are expected to be mailed to affected vehicle owners on January 13, 2025. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit the NHTSA website for more information.
This recall is part of a series of recalls issued by Ford on the same day, including recalls for compact SUVs, Lincoln Nautilus vehicles, and other models due to various issues.
