Senior LIFE Harrisburg to Host Grand Opening

Harrisburg, Pa – Senior LIFE Harrisburg, a Medicare and Medicaid approved long-term care program that provides complete medical care and supportive services for persons 55 years and older, is hosting a grand opening of the new LIFE Center on May 10 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at 162 North Front Street in Steelton. The grand opening is an opportunity for the local community to learn about the LIFE Program and services offered by Senior LIFE, tour the new facility, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages and entertainment.

All are welcome to this free event. Guests who plan to attend should RSVP by calling 717-234-5433.

The LIFE Program, which stands for “Living Independence for the Elderly,” is a joint Medicare/Medicaid program launched 23 years ago in Pennsylvania to provide a comprehensive array of health and support services to qualified residents of the state who face health challenges that threaten their continued ability to live independently in the community.

Senior LIFE opened its doors in 2017 at its original location on Manada Street in Harrisburg with the goal of keeping seniors in the local community living independently in their homes. The program has more than doubled its number of participants in the last 4 years and anticipates continued growth as baby boomers age and look for alternatives to nursing home care following the pandemic.

The new location of the Senior LIFE Health and Wellness Center will feature a brand new medical clinic with advanced equipment, larger dayrooms, a full kitchen to provide meals, and personal care facilities.

“We’re excited at the opportunities this new building will bring to low-income seniors in our community to receive the healthcare they need and remain out of a nursing home,” Dianne Bertuzzi-Lamertina, Senior LIFE Harrisburg Executive Director. “The program also provides much needed support for family caregivers.”

LIFE is an innovative program that uses a team approach to provide seniors with medical, social, nutritional and rehabilitation services. These services are provided at the Senior LIFE Center in Steelton as well as in the home. Senior LIFE makes it possible for seniors to remain at home, enjoying the comfort and reassurance of familiar surroundings while receiving the care they need. All services are provided at no cost to eligible persons.
