A New York City man, Husani Laviscount, has pleaded guilty to charges related to a 2021 fire at the Kensington Club apartment complex in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The 38-year-old was accused of breaking into an apartment unit and setting a fire that spread to five other units, displacing eight residents.
According to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, Laviscount set multiple fires within the apartment using an ignitable liquid. Investigators found evidence of tampering with smoke detectors, which delayed notification to residents and the fire department. Phone records and surveillance footage tracked Laviscount's movements from Queens to the scene and back.
Laviscount was charged with arson, burglary, risking catastrophe, and criminal mischief, along with eight counts of recklessly endangering another person. He was sentenced to up to nine years in prison. Laviscount remains in Lancaster County Prison without bail due to being deemed a flight risk.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Fetterman prosecuted the case, and Manheim Township Police Det. Anthony Lombardo filed the charges. The case highlights the importance of swift investigative work and cooperation between state and local authorities.
