Investigation Continues Into Deadly House Explosion

The investigation into a deadly house explosion in Perry County, Pennsylvania, continues as authorities seek to determine the cause of the tragic incident. The explosion occurred early Wednesday morning (September 30) at a home on Juniata Parkway East in Howe Township, claiming the life of 81-year-old Roy Daniels. Daniels was the sole occupant of the house at the time of the explosion.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 a.m., and the blast was reportedly heard from miles away, causing nearby houses to shake. Neighbors described the explosion as sounding like a car crashing into their homes, with debris scattered across the property and nearby roadways. Howe Township resident Ashley Bistline shared, "It actually sounded like a car came into our house. Everything shook."

The Perry County Coroner confirmed that Daniels died from blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled accidental. However, the precise cause of the explosion remains unknown, and Pennsylvania State Police are actively investigating the scene. According to Local21 News, Juniata Parkway East is currently closed, and residents are advised to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
