Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr appeared in Adams County Court on Thursday (September 3) as his legal case progresses. Carr, who resigned earlier this year, faces charges related to sexual assault and soliciting explicit photos from minors. During the court hearing, two charges were dropped due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, according to PennWatch.
Despite the dismissal of these charges, Carr will still face trial for one felony count of sexual assault and two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors. The former mayor was arrested in Texas and transported back to Pennsylvania, where he remains in Adams County Prison as the case continues.
Carr's legal troubles began when authorities learned of his alleged offenses through a Childline report from a concerned citizen. The report claimed that Carr solicited sexual images from a minor between 2011 and 2013. Following his initial arrest, three additional victims came forward, leading to further charges.
Carr's trial is scheduled for December 7, with jury selection expected to start in October. The case has drawn significant attention, with Carr's attorneys presenting 49 articles to the judge to demonstrate the widespread coverage of the case, as reported by Yahoo News.
