A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Hamadou Albarka, is facing deportation to Niger after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred early Sunday morning (August 23) in the parking lot behind Boscov's Department Store in Camp Hill. The victim contacted her mother, who then alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers detained Albarka at the scene.
According to Crimewatch, Albarka met the victim at a bar in Harrisburg after she had an argument with her boyfriend. He offered her a place to stay but instead took her to the parking lot, where he allegedly assaulted her. During the investigation, it was discovered that Albarka was already under immediate deportation status to the Republic of Niger.
Albarka was taken into custody on Thursday (August 27) and is currently held at Cumberland County Prison with bail set at $1 million. He faces charges including rape, sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and false imprisonment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 10.
