The tornado touched down near Sutherland and White Chapel roads in Manor Township, causing significant damage to the area. This confirmation follows previous reports of tornadoes in Columbia and eastern York County during the same storm system.
According to Yahoo News, siding was torn off roofs and garages, and trees were toppled in the affected neighborhoods. Local renovation companies are actively working to repair the damage. Dara Williams from Paul Davis Restoration described the extensive work needed, including removing ceilings and insulation in damaged homes.
CBS 21, reported that residents in Manor Township experienced intense winds and rain, leading to downed trees and scattered shingles. The storm was so severe that it left a gaping hole in one resident's roof. Many locals, like Debbie Rannels, were caught off guard by the storm's intensity, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The NWS's confirmation adds to the total of three tornadoes in Lancaster County this year, with a history of 41 tornadoes since 1950. As cleanup efforts continue, residents are reminded of the importance of heeding emergency alerts to stay safe during severe weather events.
