An investigation is underway following a rowhome fire that broke out early Wednesday morning (August 5) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The fire, which started in a second-floor bedroom at 126 North Reservoir Street, quickly spread to an adjacent home, resulting in both properties being condemned.
The Lancaster City Bureau of Fire responded to the scene around 3 a.m. and found heavy fire and smoke emanating from the building. All residents were evacuated safely, but one person was transported to Lancaster General Hospital with minor burns and possible smoke inhalation. In total, 12 residents were displaced by the blaze, and the American Red Cross is assisting those affected.
Firefighters and police worked together to ensure the safety of the residents, extending evacuations to neighboring homes as a precaution. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire marshal.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of fire safety measures, such as working smoke detectors, which were present in the affected homes. The community awaits further updates from the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire as the investigation continues.
