Senator Dave McCormick recently visited the Sechan Electronics plant in Lititz, Pennsylvania, emphasizing the state's pivotal role in U.S. defense and innovation. During his tour on Monday (July 27), McCormick expressed his vision for Pennsylvania to be at the forefront of defense manufacturing and technological advancements. Sechan Electronics, an employee-owned company, produces electronic systems for the U.S. military and is among several key defense facilities in the state.
Earlier this month, McCormick hosted a Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, attended by President Donald Trump. The summit announced $10 billion in new investments for the state's defense industry. McCormick aims to revamp the military industrial base, highlighting the need for skilled workers and streamlined procurement processes.
According to FOX43, McCormick stated, "We have to have a really strong defense industrial base." He also praised Sechan's business model, noting its role in attracting skilled labor.
The summit underscored Pennsylvania's historic and ongoing contributions to U.S. defense, with McCormick and Governor Josh Shapiro discussing the importance of connecting research with defense contractors. The visit comes amid heightened tensions with Iran, affecting fuel prices and raising questions about U.S. military strategy. McCormick reiterated the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, aligning with President Trump's administration's stance.
