Authorities in York County, Pennsylvania, are investigating a shooting that occurred on Monday evening (July 20) in York Township, which may be a case of self-defense. The incident took place around 5 p.m. at a home on Ark Drive, involving a 24-year-old man and his girlfriend's 52-year-old father.
According to York County Regional Police, the altercation began as a domestic dispute between the 24-year-old and his 22-year-old girlfriend. The woman's father arrived at the home, armed with a handgun, and confronted the younger man. During the confrontation, the father allegedly assaulted the boyfriend, leading to the shooting. Both men were reportedly carrying firearms at the time.
The father, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was conscious and alert when officers arrived and was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Assistant Chief Bryan Rizzo of the York County Regional Police stated that the shooting could potentially be a self-defense case, based on witness and suspect statements, as well as video evidence.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing. The roads in the area, which were temporarily closed following the incident, have since reopened.
