The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that an EF1 tornado struck Perry County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday (July 5). The tornado, with peak winds of 100 mph, touched down in a wooded area near Marysville, causing significant damage but no injuries.
According to the NWS, the tornado began at 7:14 p.m. about four miles west-southwest of Marysville and ended at 7:17 p.m. about three miles north of Wertzville. It traveled a path approximately 0.55 miles long and up to 300 yards wide, primarily affecting wooded areas along Lamb's Gap Road. The most concentrated damage occurred near the edge of the State Game Lands, where numerous trees were uprooted.
The NWS noted that the information is preliminary and subject to change pending a final review. The tornado's classification as EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale indicates wind speeds between 86 and 110 mph.
