The victims, identified as Pamela Landis, 45, and her 11-year-old son, Andre Landis, were from St. Thomas, Franklin County. They were pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries.
The incident took place around 6:20 p.m. during severe storms that swept through the area. According to the National Weather Service, the tree fell onto their tent due to the heavy winds. The Cumberland County Coroner's Office confirmed the deaths as accidental.
Another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The Pennsylvania State Police, alongside the coroner's office, are continuing to investigate the incident.
In a statement, Mountain Creek Campground expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to the family and friends of the victims. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the Landis family, who are mourning the loss of Pamela and Andre. Pamela leaves behind two daughters and a husband.
