Person Rescued After Minivan Crashes Into Wendy's

Authorities in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, are investigating a crash that occurred early Sunday morning (June 28) when a minivan slammed into a Wendy's restaurant on Eisenhower Boulevard in Middletown. The restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.

According to Local 21 News, emergency crews had to remove a door from the vehicle to extricate the driver. It is currently unclear whether the driver sustained any injuries. The Lower Swatara Township Police Department is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

This location has experienced similar incidents in the past. In July 2024, a tractor-trailer crashed into the same Wendy's, and in 2021, another vehicle lost control and collided with the restaurant. The intersection off of Interstate 283 has been noted as problematic for drivers unfamiliar with the area, according to CBS Austin.

Despite the frequency of crashes, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has stated that there are no current plans to modify the intersection unless a request is submitted by the municipality. The investigation into the recent crash is ongoing, and authorities are working to assess the damages to the Wendy's building.
