A Tesla vehicle crashed into a store at the Hershey Tanger Outlets in Pennsylvania on Sunday (June 21), with the driver claiming the car was operating autonomously. The incident occurred around 11:25 a.m., according to the Derry Township Police Department. The driver, Sharada Naganur from Princeton, New Jersey, reported that the 2026 Tesla was either parked or in the process of parking when it suddenly jumped the curb and traveled down a grass median.
The Tesla struck a small tree, three parked vehicles, and a sign before heading toward the Oakley Outlet Store. As reported by ABC27, Naganur managed to jerk the steering wheel, causing the car to crash into a pillar outside the Victoria’s Secret Outlet Store. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The police confirmed that Naganur was legally able to operate the vehicle and was not under the influence of any substances. The Derry Township Police Department is continuing its investigation and has requested anyone with information, including photos or videos of the crash, to contact Officer Todd Houser at 717-534-2202.
Authorities are also reaching out to Tesla to inquire if the company is investigating the incident. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the cause of the crash and whether the vehicle's autonomous features were involved. For more details, see the Local 21 News coverage.
