Nick Kurtz, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is making waves in Major League Baseball as he garners significant fan votes for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game. Currently, Kurtz ranks fourth among American League first basemen with nearly 270,000 votes. The voting process will continue until Thursday (June 25).
Kurtz, who played high school baseball at Manheim Township, was named the American League Rookie of the Year last year. His impressive rookie season included a .290 batting average, 36 home runs, and 86 RBIs, earning him a unanimous vote for the prestigious award. He also became the first Athletics player to hit four home runs in a single game, a feat he accomplished on July 25, 2025, against the Houston Astros.
Kurtz's journey to the majors began with his debut on April 23, 2025, where he quickly showcased his talent. His remarkable performance throughout the season earned him several accolades, including the AL Silver Slugger Award and the Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year Award. Kurtz was also named to the All-MLB Second Team, becoming the only rookie honored across either All-MLB roster in 2025.
As the Athletics continue to rebuild, Kurtz's contributions are seen as a beacon of hope for the franchise. His combination of power and consistency has made him a fan favorite and a key player for the Athletics' future.
