Power outages in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, are expected to persist through this evening. The outages, affecting nearly 1,000 residents, occurred during storms on Sunday night (June 14). Most of the affected residents are in Middle Paxton Township. PPL Electric Utilities estimates that power will be restored by 7 p.m. today (June 15).
Crews are also working to restore electricity to hundreds of residents in York, Perry, and Cumberland Counties. According to CBS 21, the storms caused significant outages across central Pennsylvania, with PPL and FirstEnergy reporting a combined 12,535 customers without power as of Saturday evening (June 13).
In addition to Dauphin County, Lancaster County experienced outages, with 2,416 customers affected, primarily in East Hempfield Township. Perry County reported 771 outages, while Cumberland and York Counties also faced significant power disruptions.
PPL advises residents to stay informed through alerts and to report any downed power lines immediately by calling 1-800-342-5775. The utility company is utilizing its Smart Grid technology to detect problems, reroute power, and restore service more quickly. As efforts continue, residents are encouraged to follow safety guidelines and remain patient as crews work to restore power.
