Teen Fatally Hit by Vehicle in Harrisburg Identified

The identity of the teenager who was fatally hit by a vehicle in Harrisburg has been released. According to the Dauphin County Coroner's Office, Ryfeek Watson, a 14-year-old student at Rowland Academy, died after being struck in the 2000 block of Derry Street around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 29). Despite efforts by officers to provide immediate medical care, Watson succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The incident has been ruled an accident, with the cause of death identified as multiple traumatic injuries. Harrisburg Police Captain Kyle Gautsch stated that Watson ran into the road and the driver remained at the scene. No charges are pending at this time, though the investigation is ongoing.

The Harrisburg School District released a statement expressing condolences and announced that grief counselors would be available at both Harrisburg High School and Rowland Academy to support students affected by the tragedy. A memorial vigil is being planned, and details will be shared in the coming days.

A GoFundMe campaign organized by Watson's mother, Felicia Ezell, has raised over $800 toward a $1,400 goal to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. Ezell described Ryfeek as "a bright light in our lives—full of laughter, kindness, and dreams for the future."
