Berks County Officer Kristen Yeager Dies in Crash

A tragic accident claimed the life of Officer Kristen Yeager of the Central Berks Regional Police Department on Friday night (May 29). The 42-year-old officer was responding to an emergency call when her vehicle crashed near the intersection of Route 73 and Manatawny Road in Earl Township, Pennsylvania.

Officer Yeager's cruiser left the road, hit a tree, and came to rest on a dirt embankment. Emergency personnel arrived quickly and transported her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries. The crash occurred around 8 p.m., and the investigation into the cause is ongoing, according to WPVI.

Officer Yeager had served with the Central Berks Police for two and a half years. She was known for her courage, compassion, and dedication to the community. Her department released a statement honoring her service, saying, "Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten."

Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in her honor, expressing condolences to her family and colleagues. Officer Yeager leaves behind a husband and three children. The community has rallied to support her family and the police department, with a 'meal train' organized for donations at the police station.

As Reading Eagle reported, the accident scene was close to Oley Township, and roads were closed for several hours during the investigation. The police department and local officials have asked for thoughts and prayers for Officer Yeager's family during this difficult time.
