Lancaster EMS recently dedicated a Wall of Honor at its headquarters in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to celebrate EMS Week. This wall recognizes employees with 25 or more years of service and memorializes those who died in the line of duty. The dedication ceremony took place on Friday (May 22) at 715 Fairview Avenue.
The Wall of Honor, created in partnership with Charles F. Snyder Funeral Homes and Crematory, features plaques honoring three EMS personnel who lost their lives while serving. These individuals are Bruce H. Ditlow, Kevin L. Weatherlow, and Larry E. Joe. The wall also acknowledges major donors who have significantly contributed to Lancaster EMS.
During the ceremony, Bob May, executive director of Lancaster EMS, emphasized the importance of remembering the courage and sacrifice of EMS personnel. He stated, "This wall is a permanent reminder that courage matters. Service matters. Sacrifice matters." Lancaster Online reported on the event.
The dedication was part of a broader effort to honor EMS workers nationwide, aligning with the mission of the National EMS Memorial Service, which commemorates EMS personnel who have died in the line of duty.
Kathy Snyder Guidos, manager of Heritage Monuments, expressed gratitude for being part of the project, highlighting the community's support for EMS services. The wall serves as a place for reflection and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these dedicated individuals.
