On Sunday night (May 24), a fight involving adults and juveniles erupted at the Valley Green Village basketball courts in Newberry Township, Pennsylvania. The Newberry Township Police Department responded to the scene after reports of a "large altercation" involving multiple individuals. Among those involved, an adult woman was reportedly armed with a knife.
The woman was taken into custody and transported to the York County Processing Center. According to police, criminal charges are expected to be filed against several other participants, both adults and juveniles. Acting Police Chief Braxton Ditty emphasized the department's zero-tolerance approach to violence and weapons offenses. He stated, "Anyone who chooses to engage in criminal activity in our community should expect to be investigated, identified, arrested, and prosecuted when appropriate."
This incident marks the second recorded fight at the basketball courts within a month. In April, police announced an "assertive enforcement posture" at the location following a previous altercation among juveniles. The Newberry Township Police Department has since increased patrols in the area to ensure community safety and build positive relationships with local youth.
According to AOL News, the police continue to investigate the incident, and further charges may be forthcoming. The department remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.
