A Lancaster County man, Steve Anthony Jones Jr., has been charged with the rape of a child following an incident reported on Friday, May 8. According to the Lancaster Township Police Department, Jones, 42, allegedly entered the bedroom of a 10-year-old boy and sexually assaulted him. The child reported that Jones threatened him with a gun to prevent him from contacting authorities.
In addition to the rape charge, Jones faces accusations of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, statutory sexual assault, and indecent exposure. During the investigation, police discovered that Jones had previously exposed himself to a 14-year-old while the teenager watched TV in December 2025.
Jones was arrested on Tuesday, May 12, in Pequea Township and is currently held without bail in Lancaster County Prison. The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for Monday, May 18. Court records indicate that Jones is being held to protect the public, given the severity of the charges.
Authorities, including the Lancaster Township Police Department, Pequea Township Police Department, and Lancaster County Children and Youth, are involved in the ongoing investigation. Police reports mention that surveillance footage corroborates the child's account of the incident, showing Jones entering and exiting the room during the night.
