Charges Filed in Adams County Crash Killing Child

A tragic accident in Adams County, Pennsylvania, has led to charges against Claudia Danessy Ramos-Villeda, a 21-year-old woman from Berwick Township. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Ramos-Villeda ran a stop sign, causing a collision that resulted in the death of a three-year-old girl on Saturday (May 9).

The crash occurred at the intersection of Stoney Point Road and East Berlin Road in Reading Township around 7:18 a.m. Ramos-Villeda was driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra southbound when she allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign, colliding with a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that had the right-of-way. The impact caused the Sentra to overturn, coming to rest in a nearby yard.

Emergency responders found the child unresponsive in the backseat of the overturned vehicle. She was not in a car seat but was being held by another passenger, her mother. The Adams County Coroner's Office pronounced the child dead at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries.

Ramos-Villeda, who did not possess a driver's license and was identified using a Republic of Honduras ID card, faces multiple charges. These include felony homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, and traffic violations such as unlicensed driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 20, 2026.

Both Ramos-Villeda and the child's mother suffered serious injuries and were taken to WellSpan York Hospital. The family of four in the pickup truck was also hospitalized. Ramos-Villeda remains in custody after being unable to post $100,000 bail.
