A tragic accident occurred in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV that ran a stop sign at the intersection of Clearview Avenue and Dawn Avenue on Friday (May 1). The incident happened at approximately 4:54 p.m., according to Ephrata Police.
The victim, a 55-year-old resident of Ephrata, was crossing the street in the crosswalk when a Toyota RAV4, driven by a 62-year-old local man, failed to stop at the sign and hit them. The pedestrian was rushed to Lancaster General Hospital with critical injuries but later died, as reported by Daily Voice.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Ephrata Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Officer Adams at 717-739-9200 ext. 270. Emergency services, including Ephrata Ambulance, WellSpan paramedics, Penn Medicine, and Lincoln Fire Department, responded to the scene to assist, according to WHTM.
