A member of the Harrisburg School Board, Jaime Johnsen, is facing a revised set of charges related to an alleged home break-in in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Initially charged with kidnapping a minor, Johnsen now faces charges of interference with the custody of children. The incident reportedly occurred when Johnsen, 41, climbed through a window into her ex-girlfriend's apartment after allegedly taking her ex's child without permission.
According to CBS21, the victim stated that she was asleep when she heard a noise and discovered Johnsen entering through a first-floor window. Johnsen allegedly became upset and assaulted the victim's roommate before fleeing the scene. The victim had allowed Johnsen to stay at her apartment to watch her four-month-old child but instructed her not to leave the residence. Upon returning, the victim found both Johnsen and the child gone. Johnsen later returned the child after being contacted.
The Pennsylvania State Police reported that Johnsen also caused damage to the victim's property, including cutting a power cord and scratching a TV screen. Johnsen has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
Johnsen, who was recently re-elected to the school board, is currently held at the Cumberland County Prison. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 20. The Harrisburg School District stated that they became aware of the charges recently and will not comment further until the case is adjudicated.
